Summary of the action from Week 6 of NTU's Serie 6-a-side competition

With only three weeks left until the end of term and with every team in the top half facing tough opposition the SERIE had the potential to blow wide open following this round of games. As it was the exact opposite occurred...

The trend was set at 4pm. Le Saux Solid Crew pounced on the opportunity top extend their unbeaten run as they put four unanswered goals past Schneefers, who now find themselves in the middle of a three game winless run. Borussia Teeth and H What faced each other at the same, with both teams having only taken one point from their last two games. Borussia Teeth replicated the actions of Le Saux Solid Crew to win 4-0, move above H What on goal difference and stay in touching distance of the top of the table.

With Ale Madrid and Barlow's Big Boys fixture being rearranged only one game took place at 4.40, but it proved to be a vital result in the league. Tekkerslovakia had started the season in fine form, winning four and drawing one in their first five games. However, they had shown signs of frailty in recent weeks, getting a narrow 3-2 win over H What FC, before being held to a goalless draw by Borussia Teeth. And The Winners Are ultimately exploited this, winning 1-0 to maintain their own 100% record, though they sit below the top group in the table as they currently have two games in hand.

The final two games of the day provided an upset and one of the most gutsy performances of the league so far. Is Your Motherwell had won their last four games and played Globo Gym Purple Cobras, who picked up a big win in their last game in Week 4, beating Borussia Teeth 5-0. The game had been expected to be a tight affair, but a below par performance from Motherwell allowed Globo Gym to pick up their second consecutive victory, this time 4-1. The days final game saw 2 Goals 1 Cup, coming off the back of a 10-1 hammering of Schneefers beat Ay BIrd FC 2-1. However, huge credit needs to be given to Ay Bird, as they played the entire game with just five players, but still managed to stay in touch with 2 Goals.

The effect of the five games was to see the top of the league close up dramatically as Tekkerslovakia, Is Your Motherwell and H What FC, who had started the day in 1st, 2nd and 4th respectively all lost. Le Saux Solid Crew took advantage to take over at the top of the table on goal difference, whilst Borussia Teeth climbed into 4th place. And The Winner Are remain in 6th, but now wins in their two games in hand will allow them to take over at the top.

Week 6's Team Of The Week award goes to And The Winners Are for their 1-0 win over league leaders Tekkerslovakia, which saw them maintain their unbeaten record for the season.

Week 7 of the SERIE competition throws up big games at either end of the table. Ale Madrid will be looking to pick up their first win of the season against out of form Schneefers at 4pm, the same time that new table toppers Le Saux Solid Crew face fellow climbers Borussia Teeth. At 4.40 H What FC try to get their season back on track against the unbeaten And The Winners Are, whilst 2 Goals 1 Cup look to extend their recent winning run against Barlow's Big Boys. At 5.20 Globo Gym Purple Cobras play Ay BIrd FC and Tekkerslovakia and Is Your Motherwell face off, with both sides coming off the back of defeats, but knowing that a win could see them take the top spot at the end of the day.
