Summary of the action from Week 20 in the LIGA 11-a-side competitions

Week 20 in the LIGA brought the LIGA Cup and Plate Semi-Finals. Unfortunately of the four scheduled games only three took place as international travel saw the Cypriot Society squad being heavily depleted and ultimately being unable to field a side to play against Chaps Society, leaving the Chaps to progress to the Cup Final.

The Cup Semi-Final that did take place was a repeat of one of the Semi's from last year as ACS FC met Kings Of Leon Osman. In 2012/13 the two needed extra-time to separate themselves, with ACS ultimately progressing 4-1. The two have met twice this season already in LIGA A, with a 4-4 draw and a 2-0 ACS win being the results, with the latter seeing ACS take the LIGA A title ahead of KOLO. ACS came into the game on a 10 match unbeaten run and showed that they were in no mood to end it any time soon as Brandon Boanti opened the scoring for them early on. Kings Of Leon Osman equalised through Charlie Hastewell-Woodman, but ACS took the lead again through Jubril Yusuf. In the second half KOLO were made to rue early missed opportunities as substitute Kevin Adu added a third for ACS midway through the half, with the 3-1 scoreline standing to the end of the game and seeing ACS reach their second consecutive LIGA Cup Final.

The LIGA Plate also saw a team going for the second consecutive Final as BSOC All Stars played against LIGA C new boys Chamakh My Pitch Up. All Stars were clearly up for the match looked in control throughout the game as they took a comfortable 8-2 victory.

Their opponents in the final will be LIGA C champions FC Banterlona. Their match against Bayer Lexerkusen kicked off ten minutes late due to Lex's players being late arrivals. Forced to kick off with nine players Lex soon found themselves 1-0 behind, but Banterlona, perhaps relaxing due to the understrength Lex side, were unable to take full control of the game. With Lex soon able to field a full 11, they were very much back in the game and not only equalised but took a 2-1 lead going into halftime. Lex then added a third after halftime but their goodwork was undone by themselves as they conceeded three penalties in thirty minutes, two of which were converted by Dan Lane. Banterlona were then able to add a fourth and then sit back a defend their lead to knock Lex out.

Following their comeback victory Week 20's LIGA Team Of The Week award goes to FC Banterlona as they progressed to the LIGA Plate Final.

Week 21 provides three games, not just the two Cup Finals. On Friday 25th April the Intra-Mural All Star team takes on the NTU Men's Varsity Squad in their traditional end of season match. Then on 30th April it's BSOC All Stars vs FC Banterlona in the LIGA Plate Final and ACS FC vs Chaps Society in the LIGA Plate Final.
