Week 17 Serie Team Of the Week Barlows Big Boys

Summary of the action from Week 17 of NTU's Serie 6-a-side competition

AS the Serie edges towards the climax of the season, Week 17 could be one of the most influential on the eventual destination of the league title.

The matches began with Tekkerslovakia edging a closely fought 2-1 victory against H What FC, with the win moving Tekkerslovakia closer to securing a top three finish at the end of the season.

On the other pitch at the same bounced back impressively from their 4-1 defeat by Tekkerslovakia in Week 16 by inflicting 2-1 defeat on Le Saux Solid Crew, which was Le Saux's second 2-1 loss in two week and only their third loss of the season.

Le Saux's slip up gave And The Winners Are the chance to stretch their lead at the top to six points. However, this looked to be far from on the cards as they went into the final five minutes of their game 2-1 down on Borussia Teeth. A late turnaround though saw And The Winners Are take a 4-2 win a give themselves a much needed cushion at the top given their games to come.

With Portugeezers unable to field a team against Schneefers they instead played out an entertaining 10-3 win in a friendly game against Ale Madrid.

The final game of the day pitched Barlows Big Boys against H What FC in what was both teams second match of the day. The effort expended in beating Le Saux Solid Crew seemed to have caught up with Barlows as H What FC took a 2-1 lead and looked comfortable for it. Barlow's refused to lie down though and fought back to win 3-2 and move themselves up to their highest league placing of fifth, above H What.

Following their two impressive wins against team higher up the league table at the begining of the days fixtures, Week 17's Serie Team Of The Week award goes to Barlows Big Boys as they took a maximum six point haul from the day.

Going into Week 18 there are big games taking place at both ends of the table. Le Saux Solid Cre play Borussia Teeth knowing that they need a win to keep any faint title hopes alive. Current leaders And The Winners Are play inform Barlows Big Boys, whilst Ale Madrid and Portugeezers play with both knowing a win would move them away from the foot of the table.
