Week 18 Serie Team Of the Week Ale Madrid

Summary of the action from Week 18 of NTU's Serie 6-a-side competition

Week 18 produced only one change in league position across the whole league , but the mid-table rankings in particular were brought closer together and the title race was left on a knife edge of being decided.

Only the one game took place at 4pm as Globo Gym Purple Cobras slept in, missing there kick off time with Tekkerslovakia. Fortunately for Globo Gym Tekkerslovakia have a bye week in Week 21, with the fixture now being moved to that the final round of fixtures.

The game that did take place at 4pm provided another shock result in the league. Le Saux Solid Crew have being going through an indifferent run of form of late, losing their last two games 2-1. Their losing streak extended to three games as Borussia Teeth, widely seen as one of the most unpredictable teams in the league, bounced back from their own two game losing streak with a 5-3 victory that kept them in the race for a top half finish and put an end to Le Saux Solid Crew's slim remaining title hopes.

At 4.40 And The Winners Are took advantage of their two nearest challengers being unabel to pick up points and extended their lead at the top of the table to nine points with a comprehensive 5-1 win over Barlows Big Boys.

Ale Madrid vs Portugeezers had been 4.40pm's other scheduled game but dissertation commitments saw Portugeezers unable to play, handing Ale Madrid three points that moved them above Portugeezers in the table. There replacement fixture was a non-league game against Tekkerslovakia, with the latter being heavily fancied to rack up big scoreline given the disparity in league position and results so far this season. However, Ale Madrid have shown great improvement of late and shocked Tekkerslovakia by taking a 4-1 lead. Though Tekkerslovakia fought back late on, Ale Madrid held on to win 4-3 and pick up their first competitive win of the season!

5.20 saw Globo Gym make it to play their second fixture of the day against Schneefers. Schneefers extended their winning streak to four games as they took a 5-0 win to close the gap from themselves in eight to Barlows Big Boys in 5th to just two points.

The last game of the day was the traditional 5.20 kick off for Is Your Motherwell, this week against H What FC. Bolstered by an unprecedented eight man squad Motherwell reflected the squad size in the scoreline as the recorded an 8-0, their biggest margin of victory of the season.

Week 18's Team Of The Week award goes to Ale Madrid as they picked up their first competitive win of the season in style with a 4-3 win against Tekkerslovakia.

Week 19 is expected to be hit by the same end of term departures experienced prior to the Christmas break. However, the scheduled games are Tekkerslovakia vs Schneefers and Le Saux Solid Crew vs Portugeezers at 4pm, H What FC vs Borussia Teeth and Ale Madrid vs Globo Gym Purple Gym at 4.40 and Is Your Motherwell vs Barlows Big Boys at 5.20
