Week 19 Bundesliga Team Of the Week Inter de Nott

Summary of the action from Week 19 of NTU's Bundesliga 5-A-Side competition

Week 19 of the Bundesliga was the last one before the enforced four week Easter break and served a dual purpose, with the 2. Bundesliga becoming tighter than ever and the Bundesliga title destination becoming more decided.

The 2. Bundelisga began with the two teams playing two games in Week 19 as title chasing Sapphic United played the leagues newest team Don't Look Back In Wenger. Though the game ended in the expected Sapphic win, Wenger ran them far closer than expected, with the final score standing at 6-2 to Sapphic.

The second game of the day between Bigshot United and The Best Choice Boys was more clear cut as Bigshot ran out 9-1 winners to continue their own title push, whilst Sapphic United's cause was furthered as AFC Game, Set & Snatch failed to show for their fixture, handing Sapphic a 3-0 win.

The last 2. Bundesliga of the day pitted Don't Look Back In Wenger against title chasing opposition for the second time in the day as they took on Inter Mi-Nan. Though the result again went with league position Wenger again proved tougher opposition than would have been expected, though Inter ultimately took a 12-5 win to stay level at the top of the table with Sapphic United.

The Bundesliga games started inauspiciously as NTU ISOC got their kick off times confused, leaving them unable to fulfil their first fixture of the day, giving opponents The Chaps three points that saw them move up into the top half of the table at the end of the days action.

2.30 provided the highlight game of the day between Inter de Nott and CC Cosmos. Cosmos came into the game knowing that only a win would keep them in title hunt, whilst a win for Inter would all put seal their grip on the league title. The first half was an even affair and though Inter took an early lead Cosmos equalised just before half time to level the scores. The first five minutes of the second half proved to be vital though as Inter were able to rattle off three quickfire and impressive goals, creating a gap that Cosmos were never able to bridge.

The 6-2 final scoreline put pressure on ASE FC in the next game on court as they played late arrivers NTU ISOC. If the pressure weighed on ASE they didn't let it show as took a 7-3 win to keep Inter's lead at the top of the table at five points.

The remaining four games of the day provided three upset victories. First Token Hotspur beat Exeter Gently 3-1 to close to just a single point behind their opponents. Exeter then got a huge upset as they beat the leagues form side Ginellies 8-4. However, as this was a friendly game put on following LEX FC being unable to fulfill their fixture with Ginellies, the latter were able to keep their unbeaten league record.

Normal service was resumed at 5pm as Ginellies a 4-1 win against Token Hotspur in what was both sides second game of the day. The games for the day finished with Baines On Toast getting their first win since their debut back in Week 7 of the league as they beat fellow strugglers Harpins Boys 5-3.

Week 19's Team Of The Week award goes to Inter de Nott after their 6-2 win against CC Cosmos moved them to within touching distance of the Bundesliga title.

When the league returns after the four week break both league title could go a long way to being decided. Inter de NOtt can take the Bundesliga title put face potentially tricky opposition in the guise of 5 Elite. Their sole remaining rivals ASE also face a potential banana skin as they play Always On Top, one of only two teams to beat them so far this season. In 2. Bundesliga the top four sides with Ivory Toast playing Inter Mi-Nan and Sapphic United able to make the league a two horse race if they beat Bigshot United.
