The second week of the Futsal Fives league contiunes with plenty of action and even more goals!

Match 1

Purple Haze – 11 Marc Whaley 2, Jamie Salter 1, Adam Castlehouse 4, Matt Francombe 2, Jason Trotter 2

Wasteman Elite – 4 Anvesh Devalapalli 2, Asaad Osman 1, Fahd Husain 1

Early in the match, Haze take a well-deserved lead with a great left footed finish 1-0. A superb finish ensures Haze lead 2-0 early on. Again Haze confidently and clinically finish to move 3-0 ahead. Wasteman never give up and work hard as a team to score 3-1. A great move from the corner ensure Haze go 4-1 up. A decent team goal by Haze makes it 5-1, quickly stealing the ball from Wasteman and making it 6-1 before half time. Wasteman must have had some honest words at the break, as they come out a different team and score repeatedly to make 6-2 then 6-3. Haze reply with another two, taking the score to 8-3. Haze retain domination of the match and score a great goal from the wing leaving the keeper with no chance 9-3. Wasteman are still playing well and battle hard to make it 10-4. A great one two with a decent finish ensures Haze a confident win 11-4, and secure their first three points of the campaign.

Match 2

Wrong Direction – 5 Gavin Seymour 1, Ben Beer 1, Stuart MacKenzie 2, Scott McCann 1

Gilbertelli Fun Squad – 4 Tom Stanton 1, Jack Cantwell 2, Calum Nicholson 1

Wrong direction starts the brightest but are caught on the back foot and the GFS make it 1-0 with some fabulous footwork. Wrong Direction work extremely hard , battling tirelessly for the whole half with some whole heartedly challenges going in which results in them scoring an excellent team goal 1-1. Both teams are showing no signs of holding back in challenges but still are playing decent Futsal, Wrong Direction take their chance and score just before half time 2-1. The GFS come out in the second half with a bang and score a stunning long range effort 2-2. Wrong Direction dominate play after and score a great team goal with all the players touching the ball 3-2. Wrong Direction become complacent after that and make a suicidal pass back to the keeper, which GFS take advantage off and slot past to make 3-3. Wrong Direction respond with a screamer right into the top corner making the scoreline 4-3. Again Wrong Direction catch GFS on the counter attack and are fowled in the box, PENALTY! Clinically but coolly finished to make an insurance gap 5-3. GFS battle hard and skilfully score a well taken goal at the end, but it is not enough. Great match for everyone who was watching, Wrong Direction taking the game 5-4.

Match 3

Totem Timber – 3 John Bulley 2, Matt Jarman 1

UCP Marjon – 4 Shaun Wingrove 1, James Noel 2, Shaun Brotherston 2, Josh Owen 3, Jonny Ellis

UCP Marjon start dominantly and score within the first couple of minutes with a cheeky chip over the out coming keeper to make it 1-0. Marjon use the space well and score a great team goal from the wing into the corner 2-0. Two screamers in quick succession ensure Marjon find themselves 3 then 4-0 up. Totem work hard to get a goal back 4-1. Marjon continue the pressure and make it 5-1 before half time. Marjon come out the brighter team and work it well from the back catching Totem on the counter 6-1. A long throw from the GK is flicked in by Marjon 7-1. Totem work the ball well to make room for a screamer smashing into the top corner for 7-2. Another throw out from the GK is volleyed excellently in by Marjon 8-2. Totem work the ball well from the wing and chip the charging keeper 8-3. Marjon take offence and score two well worked goals in quick succession 9 then 10-3. Marjon work the ball well really well from the wing and score a one on one with ease 11-3. Marjon score two late on to secure a confident win 13-3 in their first match of the league.

Match 3

Just Play – 1 Mark Light 1

Furia Roja – 11 Mark Wiggins 3, Sina Zand 1, Toby Phillips 2, Santiago Rodriguez 2, Abner Bruzzichessi 1, Jose Bouhati 2

Roja start confidently and score quickly with a well taken volley to make it an early 1-0 lead. Roja work well as a team and score a decent one two doubling their advantage 2-0. Roja spread the ball wide with the attacker managing to lob the keeper 3-0. A decent corner move allows Roja to score with a back heel 4-0. The Roja GK Throws a long ball with the ball glancing over the keepers head making it 5-0. at half time. Just Play come out the second half brighter and more confident, but Roja capitalise on a mistake firing past the JP GK 6-0. A solo run by the Roja is clinically finished 7-0. Roja throw the ball in and the Striker side steps his defender, with another stunning finish for 8-0. Just Play have worked tirelessly through this match and score a great team goal, which they really deserve for such hard work, low and hard into the corner 8-1. Roja are not finished and the GK throws the ball wide, with a great cross followed by a cheeky back hill 9-1. Roja work the ball well in the middle and pick the overlap, smashed in the top corner 10-1. FR then score again in the last minute to make it 11-1. Unlucky on Just Play who are a new team made up of players who don’t know each other and will come back next week with more confidence. Roja with a well-deserved win.
