Saturday 7th December Leigh Foundry 0 Cartmel & District FC 1

Cartmel and District took the long journey to Leigh to play Leigh
Foundry for a place in the quarterfinal of this prestigious completion. The first half was dominated by Cartmel despite being under strength. They had a host of chances before Oliver Brownlee found the back of the net after some good build up play ending with Brownlee being in the right place at the right time to blast
the ball past the home keeper after just 30 minutes. Cartmel continued to be the better side, but at half time the lead was just the one when a 2 or 3 goal lead would have been more in keeping with the state of play. Leigh upped their game in the second half but the young Cartmel side stood firm and when they did broke out of defence they always looked dangerous. As the game wore on the Leigh side looked more dangerous but could not get past an inspired player/manager Andrew Kendall who played a blinder with many excellent saves to deny the home side. But after 90 minutes the result for Cartmel was well deserved.
