Kent FA is proud to be part of a new FA drive to get more members of the LGBT community into refereeing!

Kent FA will be hosting a Basic Referee Course on 17th, 18th and 24th November which is specifically aimed at the LGBT community. Inclusion Officer Stephanie Gadd said ‘I am delighted that the Kent FA are running a LGBT referee course in partnership with The FA and Pride Sports. We pride ourselves on ensuring football is a game that can be enjoyed by everyone. Hopefully this course will encourage more members of the LGBT community to get involved in football, either as referees, players or coaches.”

The course is part of an FA pilot scheme which links into the FA’s new equality strategy called ‘Opening Doors and Joining In’ which was launched in February. The course will also be supported by openly gay Level 3 referee Dave Ravel who will be on hand on the final day for a question and answer session about how he got involved in refereeing and his experiences. The course has been subsidised by The FA and is only £35 per person which is excellent value.
