The League's 2007 Five-A-Side Tournament saw new names added to the list of winners and runners-up as Newgen won the competition for the first time by overcoming Drummond Rovers in the final. Click for more details

Newgen's victory was somewhat marred however by a bad injury sustained by their team-mate Sam Barrett whilst playing for another Newgen team in the previous match, the final of the Plate Trophy, an injury which caused the match to be stopped and then moved to another pitch for its conclusion whilst an ambulance was called for. Newgen went on to lose this match to United Churches Fellowship FC who thus have the dubious honour of regaining a trophy they last won in successive years in 2003 and 2004.

It turns out that Sam had broken his leg just above the ankle and was put in a temporary plaster at the Mayday Hospital prior to further assessment of the injury at the fracture clinic at his local hospital. Sam is a student at Reading University so our prayers will be with him as he sorts out the ramifications the injury will have on his return there for the new academic year. We wish him a speedy and succesful recovery.

Contested by 27 teams in a World Cup type format, the competition once again also suffered from a number of teams not turning up, but at least referee Martin Purser managed to survive the day without a visit to hospital!
