Three Pompey Players secure USA Soccer Scholarships

Three Pompey players, from the Football Development Programme, run by Pompey in the Community have secured dream soccer scholarships in America for this coming summer. Since completing their GCSE’s, Will Jones, Ben Holmes and Sam Smart have been enrolled on a two year Football and Education Programme, where they have been studying a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport, as well as training as a full time footballer. The Pompey Development Squad competes in a competitive games programme against other professional football clubs, development squads.

All three players are moving to different areas of America to study a 4 year degree and represent the College Soccer squad. Will Jones has signed for Carl Sandburg College near Chicago, Ben Holmes has signed for St Louis College in Missouri and Sam Smart has signed for Broward College in Florida.
