Week ending 25th November by Mason Norton

In Everards Brewery Division One, Anstey Town remain unbeaten and well clear at the top after a 3-0 win at home to Holwell Sports Reserves on Saturday, Joe Harris, Josh Parker and sub Ben Graham the scorers. Kirby Muxloe Reserves moved up the table, albeit having played more games than the teams around them, after Callum Key (2) and Daniel Turner gave them a 3-0 win away at Birstall United Reserves. Leicester Atletico did not play this week, but received a boost in midweek when the League Management Committee awarded them a walkover for their game against Barrow Town Reserves a few weeks ago when Barrow were unable to raise a side.

That was what happened as well to Barrow this weekend, this time unable to raise a side at home to Hinckley LR Reserves. This is the bottom side's fourth no-show of the campaign already, and like the others, it will go to the Management Committee. The other side in the relegation zone, Sporting Markfield, missed out on the chance to close the gap to Holwell, as Liam Golding scored the only goal of the game in the second half as Ingles Development beat Markfield 1-0 at home.

Everards Brewery Division Two saw St Patricks close the door back shut in the promotion race, as they defeated rivals Mountsorrel Amateurs 3-0 in a game moved to Quorn, Nikesh Godhania, Jack Hickey and sub Eric Maisiri scoring for Patricks, who are now three points clear of Mountsorrel with a superior goal difference and a game in hand. Patricks also closed to be within a point of leaders Loughborough Students Development, who were held to a 0-0 draw away to Sileby Town Reserves. If games go the way of the form book and the weather doesn't wreak too much havoc, then the game between the Students and St Patricks at Holywell Park in the New Year looks like it will be the title decider.

At the other end, Loughborough FC remain at the foot of the table after a 6-1 defeat away to Desford and Caterpillar Reserves, Harry Jarvis (2), Dexter Boon, Arlie Greet, Lochlan Murray and Kian Nolan the scorers for Desford.

That's it for this week. Ramble Round returns next weekend with Ramble Round the County Cups, and a reduced programme for League action means that we'll take all three divisions together in Ramble Round the Three Divisions. See you then.
