A brief history of FGR academy.....

FGR Academy was estabished as a full time programme last year, in that time we have seen 5 players progress into the professional game and three more take offers of scholorships in the USA. Our ethos as a club is to play football the correct way, we believe in giving our young players the chance to florish in a relaxed but professional environment. We are fortunate to have a fantastic facility at the grounds of the Royal agricultural College as well as our first team stadium, The New Lawn. It is also an exciting time to be associated with our club as the first team push for promotion to the football league.

We run our programme at SGS College in Stroud where our players are educated to a good level on
whichever course they choose. Our players train three afternoons a week and compete in two leagues, the ECFA Elite U19 league and the South West Counties as well as the FA Youth Cup.

Our squad is made up of players that have come through FGR Youth and also players that have been released from professional clubs, a strength of ours is the ability to rebuild confidence in a young player and offer a quality level of football and coaching.
As a result we are attracting a lot of attention at present from professional clubs and recently took part in the UEFA Pro Licence coaching course with the likes of Marcel Desailly, Didi Hanman and Jens Lehman.

Our first year as a full time set up was an exciting one
