Basingstoke & District Sunday League Match Reports from Sunday 12th March, By Tony Spencer.

The Kelvin Cup semi-final between Tron and Nether Wallop was goalless after 90 minutes and extra time on Sunday. Tron's Ross Cook and Harry Cook managed to score their penalty kicks but the Andover side netted all they needed to take to win the tie 2-4 on penalties. It had been a close, tight game and Tron look forward to playing them again in the Andover Presidents Cup semi-final in April.

The top of Division 2 match, between Chineham and Hampshire Irons, was a hard-fought game played in tricky windy conditions that Irons was able to edge on the day, winning 0-2. James McIntosh set up the first goal for Jordan Grant's strike from outside the box into the bottom corner corner of the net for a 0-1 half-time lead. Then Steve Bown passed to Grant for his second goal to seal the points and go clear at the top. James Arnold and Tom Chant put in good performances in defence for Irons.

North Warnborough Reserves romped away with a 7-1 win over Overton United in a mid-table Division 3 match. Jack McGee opened the scoring for the hosts with the only goal of the first half. Tom Davies doubled the lead on 50 minutes, before Tom Davies got his second from the penalty spot for 3-0. On 85 mins Jason Williams made it four goals for no reply. McGee, who started the ball rolling in the first half, scored three more in as many minutes as Overton's resistance collapsed, to make it 7-0. Then, bizarrely on 89 minutes, Overton launched a hopefully shot from the halfway line and Ryan Thorpe, Boro's leading goalscorer who stood-in for the usual keeper, miscontrolled the ball which ended up in the net and was put down as an own goal!

Team FC were 0-5 winners of the North Hants John Ward Cup Final against Soldiers Return Reserves. Team have gone six games without defeat and this result was more than adequate revenge for an earlier defeat.
