South East Athletic successfully defended the Challenge Cup last night as they beat Centresports 2-1 at Beckenham Town FC.

A large crowd watched an enthralling Cup Final last night as Centresports took on South East Athletic in the Challenge Cup Final.

Centresports took the lead mid-way through the first half, capitalising on sloppy play in the middle of the park from South East to race through one on one with the keeper and finish cooly.

The league's top scorer Darren Wynne equalised for South East with a lovely turn and shot from the edge of the area to bring the scores level before HT.

South East sealed the win from the penalty spot after what looked like a handball from the Centresports defender. Barry Ryan had no nerves and fired home from the spot.

Centresports put South East under a lot of pressure but the SEA defence held firm to the end to clinch the win and become the first team to win the trophy 2 years running since 1995/96 season.

Congratulations to SEA and commiserations to Centresports who meet again in the Charity Cup semi final in a few weeks and are currently the top two in the Bromley & District Premier Division, tonights game showed why both clubs have had such successful seasons.
