A round-up of league action from the 4th - 8th September as another league season gets underway

On Monday night the league season opened with a clash in the South Division as two league newcomers G3A Academy and Kimberley MW faced off at Walesby Lane. The 3 points went to the hosts G3A thanks to a single goal from Samuel Buckton. On Tuesday two more newcomers went head to head in a much more one sided affair as Notts County were winners by a score of 5-0 at home to Rainworth MW. Oliver Unwin scored the first of three hat-tricks in the opening week and County's other goals came from Tom Daniels and Khimanni Martin.

The Central Division opened on Wednesday night as Club Thorne visited Dinnington and took all three points back to Doncaster thanks to a Joe Pugh hat-trick and a 3-1 victory. Dinnington repiled through Coen Cooper. Retford United back in the league after a year away made a strong start at home to Goole. The Badgers winning 5-2 thanks to a hat-trick from Jordan Turner and further goals from Jake Bradford and Jacob Preistnall. Goole's replies came from Daniel Riddington and Ryan Swaby. Another side making their return to the league were Retford F.C. but they couldn't get off the mark with a win as a Tom Baker goal was enough for Harworth to win the first of 12 Bassetlaw derbies scheduled for the Central Division this season. Finally, on Friday night last season's treble winners Gainsborough got their new campaign under way with a 6-2 victory over visitors Worksop Town. Tobias Burke, Joshua Fraiwald, Billy Housham, Charlie Robson and Lewis Wisdom-Lockwood were all on target for the Holy Blues with Worksop scoring an own goal. The Tigers led briefly at the beginning of the second half through Ellis Bennett and an own goal before Gainsborough went up a gear to take the points.

The North Division was the last to get underway, but on Thursday night newcomers Emley AFC returned home from Dronfield Town with an opening night win thanks to a brace from Adil Ayub and an Adam Mirza goal as they won 3-0. However, it was Penistone Church who fired an early warning to the rest of the league beating Swallownest 6-1. Penistone spreading the goals with a Jack Lenthall (2), Oliver Casson, Sam Hackett, Maxwell Jenkins & Charlie Rogerson. The visitors reply coming from Jake McKechnie.

The coming week will see a full week of fixtures.

In the North, Dronfield host Penistone, Swallownest are at home to Worsbrough Bridge and Thorncliffe Villa welcoming Emley in the North on Thursday night followed on Friday by Handsworth opening their league season against newcomers to the league Jubilee Sports.

In the Central three games take place on Thursday with Club Thorne hosting Retford United, Goole playing Gainsborough Trinity and Harworth at home to Dinnington. Friday sees Worksop Town host Retford F.C.

Finally, in the South, Monday sees Long Eaton open their season at home to newcomers Matlock Town, Kimberley MW welcome Notts County on Tuesday, Wednesday sees Rainworth at home to Staveley MW and Thursday see's last season's South Division champions Sherwood Colliery welcoming G3A Academy.

Good luck to all our clubs in week 2.
