SANTIAGO 3 v 2 OLD CITY Sunday 5th August 2007

Santiago started their pre season with a win after an Adam Foggo first half double.
Old City started impressively against their Premier Division opponents, 10 mins in they were 1 nil up after some confusion and Santiago defenders failing to clear, the ball was drilled in at the far post. This provided the wake up call that Peter Fisher's side needed. Adam Foggo made it one all with a well taken effort placing his shot in off the post.
The confusion between new keeper and defence would strike again, a long throw bounced in the Santiago area. The defence left it to the keeper who could only watch in dismay as the ball slipped through his gloves and into the net. Adam Foggo netted again five minuets before half time.
Half time gave Peter Fisher the chance to make changes. He gave six players their club debut. Under the mid-day sun these players took the chance to impress. Santiago started to pass and move the ball much better. Santiago's fitness began to tell, however in a second half in which they dominated the men in yellow had survive a rare Old City attack with the keeper pushing a ferocious shot onto the cross bar. His defence having been carved open by some crisp Old City passing.
Bradley Gormer chased a long ball the bounce beat the keeper, and with Gormer pressurising the defender could only place the ball into the roof of his own net, a cruel blow for the First Division side that had played well. Santiago saw the last 20 mins out without incident.
Manager Peter Fisher was pleased with a first win, but knows his side will need to up their performance for the next game.
