In one of the best and most competitive Cup Finals of recent seasons ... PSV Preston, overcame a resolute and stubborn Stable Bar team who performed wonders at times, 7 - 5 after extra time, to win The Barron Cup Final for season 2012.

After having seen 3 excellent Cup Finals in the week all expectations were on PSV Preston & Stable Bar to give us another, and we were not disappointed.
With a large crowd gathered at the beautiful location of Bilsborrow FC, on a pitch well manicured by the Barton Grange landscapers and Steve Burrows with assistance from his daughter Hannah the game kicked off a little after 6.30pm.
With literally their first attack of the game Stable Bar scored,1-0 .. the crowd was still settling down after this surprise goal when a little after it was 2-0 to Stable Bar.PSV looked stunned, they had had some chances but fluffed their lines. The game was getting a little heated at times and it took some strong intervention by match official Spencer Doherty and his 2 colleagues to keep a lid on the game.Suddenly 2-0 became 3-0 ... it was looking bleak for PSV supporters and the team.Just before the half time break PSV were thrown a lifeline when they managed to pull a goal back, 3-1 at the break.
The game was ebbing and flowing from end to end ... PSV made some changes at half time and this seemed to have a positive effect early on in the second half as it was wave after wave of attacking play from PSV.Eventually this paid dividends and PSV pulled it back to 3-2 ... By now it was all PSV,then on a sudden break away Stable Bar got a free kick at the edge of PSV's box.Bang .. 4-2 game over ?? Hatrick for Mickey Evans of Stable Bar .. PSV had still not given in,another change then influenced the game .. 4-3 it became and with the clock ticking down and all the crowd cheering and supporting their teams it looked all over for PSV.Then with literally the final chance of normal time a stunning goal gave PSV the equaliser 4-4,and we all looked forward to extra time. Both teams had given their all and it was showing, tired legs, cramp we had it all .. Into extra time we went ... still 4-4 at the half way point of extra time. Then with the clock ticking down Stable Bar scored a stunning goal to lead 5-4 .. it looked now all over .. heads were down for PSV and on the side lines also. Then within a matter of minutes it was 5-5, then 6-5 to PSV .. these two quick goals had broken Stable Bar's hearts and with it their hope of glory ... with literally the last kick it was 7-5 to PSV ... Exhausted was not the word .. everybody had played their part, players ,match officials, and supporters.Probably just about deserved on the night, PSV took the honours along with the First Division Trophy and also unbeaten all season.
Well done to all at PSV and what a way to finish off a great week of Summer League Finals .... Lets hope season 2013 is as good as this last weeks fixtures were . !!!
