A very feisty encounter at Scorton ended with Ribble Bank getting their first piece of silverware in the Catforth Summer League.

In an enthralling encounter at Scorton this evening,Ribble Bank overcame Newton Villa by a scoreline of 6 - 5.In a game which was very evenly matched from first to last whistle,Newton went into a 2-0 early lead but by half time Ribble Bank were leading 4-2.Newton pulled it back to 5-5 with only minutes remaining, but with literally the final kick of the game Ribble snatched it at the death. The game lived up to its billing as the two top teams in Division 2 West, the evening was damp and wet on a beautifully manicured pitch, tackles were strong and feisty and even fearsome at times but all played in a well spirited and sporting manner, bar for a skermish towards the end of the game.Match Officials controlled the game excellently and a big thank you to all supporters of both teams for turning up in the poor weather conditions.
