A warm and welcoming Summer Evening at Goosnargh ended with Birchall Park Rangers achieving the Double of Cup & League Winners.

On a lovely summers evening at Goosnargh, on a pitch which was expertly prepared for a Summer League Final by Goosnargh Secretary Michael Smith & his Assistants, we welcomed Birchall PR vs Cockerham in the Parkinson Final.Match Official Mark Doherty and his 2 Assistants passed the pitch playable and got the game under way just after 6.30pm ...
Both teams were playing attacking and entertaining football but with no finished product at either end. Both goal keepers throughout the first and second half made excellent saves to keep their sides in the game. Both teams were evenly matched, even though Birchall had won the Premier Division and Cockerham had finished a respectable 4th in their first season in the First Division. The match officials played their part also in an entertaining fixture which was heading towards extra time until approx. 10 mins from time a shot by the Birchall player deflected off a Cockerham opponent and flew past the stranded goalkeeper who could do nothing about the shot. The game then was played out to the end with both teams looking to score, but as was the previous 80 mins nothing was troubling the defences. At the final whistle Birchall took the honours and completed the Premier & Parkinson Cup double for season 2012.
