Chipping Player accident. A summary of week 8 in season 2010. A summary of Cup Fixtures / Results. A summary of season so far !!

We start with an accident that occured this week in the fixture between Spartak Fulwood vs Chipping Reserves.
A Chipping player,as yet unnamed, was involved in an accidental collision / challenge and unfortunately broke his leg.Well done to all concerned for the prompt actions taken. Our best wishes and thoughts from the League Committee to the player, club, his family and friends for a swift and speedy recovery.I will keep you updated as / when I receive any information.
Week 8 began in the Premier Division with Fleece Inn back to winning ways with a convincing win,6-2 over Goosnargh, putting them back on top of the table.A surprise and shock victory at Brockholes where the home team defeated Catforth,5-0.A good first win in the League for Brockholes then, after the withdrawal of Wyre Villa.Hoghton vs Dunsop was postponed due to player unavailability.New date as yet not arranged.
Division 1 is very strong this season, with a number of clubs putting up some good performances ... PAH,Udderseenus,CCA,FC Barton.
This week saw PAH play CCA for the second time in a week, again a titanic struggle ensued with PAH eventually coming out on top 3-2,thus ensuring 2 wins out of 2 against CCA and a healthy lead opened up at the top of the table.
Udderseenus City are still sitting comfortably in second spot after a convincing 7-1 win over a struggling Chipping team.Goosnargh 2nd's won well away at Pilling, 4-1.Ribchester vs FC Barton was off due to player issues, fixture re-arranged for 24th June.
Division 2 East is another tight Division to call,Spartak Fulwood lead the way after 2 home wins this week.3-2 against closest rivals Brockholes Arms Reserves and 3-1 against Chipping Reserves. In the latter game both teams agreed to finishing the game after the injury to the Chipping player. The only other League fixture this week saw Deepdale Dynamos play Inter Marina.Last time these sides met Deepdale ran out 14-2 winners, this time out though a lot closer,a 1-0 win to Deepdale over an ever improving Inter Marina team, only a short time till they get that first win.
In Division 2 West,it is again a close run thing with Grimsargh leading the way after a great 4-2 win over local rivals Bilsborrow gaining revenge for the previous game which Bilsborrow won 3-2.The other League fixture this week saw Fulwood Park Rgrs play Norcross / Warbreck. This ended in an entertaining 4-4 draw.
This coming week sees the Quarter Finals of the Barron Cup,Parkinson Cup and Hargreaves Cup.
Barron Cup games are on Thursday evening at Catforth,Pilling,PAH and Goosnargh.
Parkinson Cup fixture is on Tuesday at Chipping.
Hargreaves Cup fixtures are on Monday at Chipping Reserves,Tuesday at Bilsborrow and Fulwood Park Rgrs.
Last week saw Udderseenus City defeat CCA 5-2 in a scrappy affair, which saw Jerome Matthews score a second half hatrick to help Udderseenus on there way. They will now meet FC Barton in the semi final on July 15th @ Barton.Goosnargh 2nd's will meet the winners from the Chipping vs Ribchester fixture.
FC Newton won a tight game 3-1 against Goosnargh 3rd's in the Hargreaves Quarter Final fixture. The remaining three games are this week.
Half way point now in the season, the only down side has been the withdrawal of two Premier teams,Quilligans and Wyre Villa other than that we have had a great start to this season, with some good games played, some surprising teams coming to the fore,Respect being displayed on the whole better than in previous seasons.
A couple of points now on some teams ..
PAH - they have had a great start to this season, well run club by Pete McLean,a stalwart of the Summer League.PAH over the past seasons have been in Div 2 or Div 3,they were promoted this season to Div 1, and to me they are the surprise team in this League. An influx of new players, mainly young local players has seen a new life bred into Marcus Young,Chris Seaman and Pete ... well done chaps and keep it up.One thing PAH do have is a sporting team,no arguing, backchat and they respect the referees decisions.A lot of clubs could do well to follow there example.
Spartak Fulwood .. run by Sam Hopkinson, ateam made up of young lads / students from the area of Barton. In there first season last year they struggled, winning only 3 games all season, but look at them this year,6 wins out of 7 games, top of the League by 6 points, they will take some stopping .. again a well run club who have not dropped there heads and kept going and learnt from there mistakes last season ... well done guys !!
Finally but not least .. Grimsargh ..
run and managed by Michael Banks and (son),last season as we all know they finished bottom of the league,2 wins all season, 15 defeats .. did they fold ?? NO !! They have continued and progressed and to look at them now compared to last season is overwhelming ..Top of the league by 5 points, played 8,won 7,lost 1 ... Fergie / Wenger would be pleased with that record .. a great turnaround by them, some new players in,experienced by last seasons campaign and a great team spirit.Well done guys .. excellent to see your performances this season !!
I only hope teams like Inter Marina stick with it, because I know they are better than the results show and last weeks performance proved it ...
Lets all continue to play the football that we all revere and enjoy so much .. keep the spirit, keep the RESPECT and above all enjoy it.

Secretaries / Managers please remember no more players to be signed on after June 30th.
