South Wingfield at the double

Ravenshead FC netted all four goals in the first half in a 4 – 0 victory over Kirkby Athletic who were hit by a Jordan Philips double and goals from Lee Pinner and Tom Hubbard . Elsewhere in the Premier Division FC Coopers were at the wrong end of a 4 – 1 scoreline against Southwell City III whose goals came via an Adam Allsopp double and solitary strikes from Liam Gleeson and Ollie Watson. Bestwood MWFC came up with a similar 4 – 1 victory against Trent Vineyard who conceded goals to four different strikers, Mike Allen, Danny Carter, James Duffy and Martyn Marshall whilst finding a reply through Joe Hurford. AS Plant United made it three victories out of three matches when a Chris Walker double and goals from James Thorpe, James McCann and Lee Nelson were answered by Gavin Carr and Henry Nash for Beeston OBA who eventually went down to a 5 – 2 defeat. A Dom Lynas double was all that was required for Woodborough Unted to clinch the points in a 2 – 0 defeat for AFC Farnsfield. Reigning Champions Old Elizabethans started their campaign with a 9 – 1 victory over new boys Nottingham City. Last season’s top scorer in the Premier Division, Callum Wilkinson netted a double along with Adam Sipson whilst the other goals were shared out between Dan Reddington, Dave McCarthy, Sean Goodwin, Jonathon Drake and Jonathon Rowbotham.
In Division 1 Bridon AFC were leading Sunnydale with a Liam Reeve penalty when on the stroke of half time the game was stopped when one of their players suffered a broken ankle. Resuming on an adjacent pitch Reeve made the score 2 – 0 only for David Bramwell to hit back for Sunny dale who then had a man dismissed before Bramwell completed the double to provide an eventual 2 – 2 draw. Bilborough United Reserves were 4 – 2 victors over Sutton Trvellers whilst Wollaton III earned a 3 – 1 victory over Alvaston United whose goal came from Neil Ainsley. Steelers went down 4 – 0 to Derbyshire Amateurs whose marksmen were Matt Alfred and Brad Scard together with Elliot and Ben Perry. AFC South Wingfield 93 completed an early season double at the expense of Ashfield FC who competed well despite a 5 – 2 scoreline. Last season’s Division 2 top marksman Jay Miles netted a double for Wingfield with Ricky Marsden, Andy Lowe and Chris Evans completing the tally whilst Austin Bowler and Rob Bradley replied for Ashfield. Magdala Amateurs Reserves earned a 1 – 1 draw with Southwell City IV whose point came thanks to Mark Gratton’s goal.
