Division 1 Title race remains wide open

Kirkby Athletic finished their inaugural season holding the wooden spoon despite completing the double at the expense of Rainworth Rangers who were the wrong side of a 4 – 3 scoreline. Rangers marksmen were Tom Barnes and Alan Welsh who netted a double. Ravenshead followed up their midweek 3 – 0 defeat of Southwell City III with a similar score line against FC Coopers. Daniel Phillips netted in both fixtures with Rob Houghton also on the mark against City, who also provided an own goal to complete the tally, whilst Adam Martin and veteran Ross Hardwick netted against Coopers. Another side completing their first season were AFC Farnsfield who were 4 – 0 down against Woodborough United in the first twenty minutes before matching their opponents for the rest of the game. Boro’s goals were shared between Nyem Sukh, Ricki Thompson, Darryl Clayton and Gary Armstrong. The Trent Vineyard – Beeston OBA clash mirrored the 1 – 1 score line between the two sides achieved a month earlier. This time TV’s substitute Michael Cox neutralised Shaun Rice’s effort for Beeston.
Division 1 leaders Derbyshire Amateurs went down 7 – 3 to an Old Elizabethans II outfit still smarting from their midweek single goal defeat at the hands of Sutton Travellers in the Notts FA Minor Cup Final when Chris Draycott’s first half penalty decided the tie. Bradley Scard, Jamie Smith and Mark Hosker were the Derbyshire Amateurs marksmen and having completed their fixtures they must wait to see what happens when the two other possible Champions, AFC South Wingfield 93 and Old Elizabethans II play each other twice in their remaining fixtures. Meanwhile Ashfield FC completed their season with a 3 – 1 defeat at Bridon AFC whose goals corers were Liam Reeve with two goals and Mathew Durham, whilst Darren Clarke replied for Ashfield.
