Ravenshead reign in Division 1

Second placed Bestwood MWSC pipped Premier Division leaders FC Sutton Forester 2 – 1 thanks to goals from Zeke Cox and Ross King. Both sides have three games left to play with Foresters still holding a one point advantage together with a superior goal difference over their rivals. Veteran Rainworth Rangers Manager Pete Limb had to put his boots on to make up the numbers in their match with Woodborough United and showed his team how to do things by netting a goal in their 4 – 3 victory. Son Thomas, together with Tom Barnes and Adam Towlson, found the net in the Rangers reply to a Dom Lynas double and a Matt Penfold strike for Woodborough. A Dan Fisher hat-trick and goals from Nathan Bettison and Mike Butler saw Mansfield Hosiery Mills through to a much needed 5 – 3 victory against winless Wollaton III. A solitary goal from Danny Wyvill together with substitute Shaun Rice’s double for Beeston OBA but could not prevent a 5 – 3 defeat against Radcliffe Olympic III leaving Beeston stuck in the relegation zone.
In Division 1 a goal from Arjun Sandhu earned Steelers a point in a 1 – 1 draw against Magdala Amateurs in their final game of the season. Two first half goals including one from the penalty spot from Adam Martin enabled Ravenshead to claim the Division 1 title as a result of their 2 – 0 victory over Eaton Hall College. Sutton Travellers and Bridon AFC are now level on points after Bridon pipped Travellers by the odd goal in nine.
Division 2 runaway leaders Watnall Athletic went down to their first league defeat of the season when they failed to reply to two goals from Jonathon Drake and Graham Loudon so have to keep their title hopes on hold for a least one more game. Alvason United leap frogged opponents Sherwood Colliery A into second spot as a result of their 3 – 1 victory when goals from Mark Holzman, Tommy Childs and Gary McLaughlan did the damage for United. A Liam Hatfield hat-trick and a goal from Jonathan Cox saw MAFC through to a 4 – 1 victory over Old Bemrosians whose reply came from Jon Goodwin. Derbyshire Amateurs climbed a place to fourth after their 4 – 2 defeat of Nottinghamshire III. Derby Deaf trail Amateurs by a solitary point after netting four goals without reply from Ashfield II whilst AFC South Wingfield got back to winning ways with their 4 – 1 defeat of Sunnydale.
