Swain at the double for Mills

Goals from Jay Miles and Chris Evans for AFC South Wingfield 93 were matched by strikes from
Neville Hamilton and Gavin Carr which earned the point required by Beeston OBA to keep their interest going in the Premier Division title race. Third placed Woodborough United edged past Ravenshead whose form has dipped recently when goals from Ricki Thompson and Dom Lynas provided ‘Borough with a 2 – 1 victory. Meanwhile Mike Cox’s solitary strikes was all that Trent Vineyard could conjure up against three from Trinity Renatus.
In Division 1 Alvaston United failed to make the best of leaders Ravenshead II’s lack of activity by scraping a 1 – 1 draw with Kirkby Athletic when United’s goal from Tommy Rutter was cancelled out by that from Thomas Platt for Athletic. ASHA shared six goals with Blidworth Welfare Red with Ricky Barker following his previous week’s hat-trick with a double and Mitchell Welsh completing the tally. Old Bemrosians continued their recent good form by defeating Ashfield 6 – 2. Both Brett Fox and Jon Patterson grabbed doubles for Bems whilst solitary strikes from Kurt Phillips and Geoff Byrne were matched for Ashfield by Trevor Hannant and Kyle Lee. Mansfield Hosiery Mills secured a welcome victory at the expense of Wollaton IV who went down 5 – 2. Ash Swain with a double was Mills’ main marksmen whose other scorers were Jamie Brooks, Dan Griffiths and Malc Bacon.
Meanwhile Wollaton III earned their place in Round 2 of the Intermediate Cup with an away tie at Alvaston United after goals from Andy Gill, Liam McCormack and Josh Slade put paid to Derbyshire Amateurs II’s hopes of progress in a 3 – 1 scoreline with Dave Crosby netting the consolation goal.
