CGC have been crowned Chelmsford & District Churches League Champions for the first time after a 3-3 draw on the final day and against Danbury Mission.

Mathematically the title was still to be decided going into the last game, although only a 10-0 defeat would have seen the title fall from the grasp of CGC and kept in the hands of Danbury Mission. And although Danbury defended valiantly for the first 40 minutes of the title deciding finale, the threat of scoring 10 times was a tall order. A freak own goal gave CGC the lead just before half time, when Tom Wood couldn't keep the ball from crossing the line. Ben Roder's 7th goal of the season was a strike worth savouring to level the game, only for CGC's Marc Rayner, from out of nothing, find the top corner from all of 25 yards with an unstoppable screamer. Despite making it 3-1, Danbury levelled the game with two minutes to go with a Rhys Williams brace, one from the spot and one with virtually the last kick of the game to ensure Danbury kept the gap to just three points and left thinking what might have been.
