City heading Stateside for pre-season tour

Manchester City women’s first team will visit the United States for the first time this summer.

We’re crossing the Atlantic for our 2018 pre-season tour, when we’ll take part in the inaugural Women’s International Champions Cup in Miami, Florida.

Taking place from 27-29 July at the Hard Rock Stadium, Nick Cushing’s side will go head-to-head with PSG and North Carolina Courage in preparation for the 2018-19 FA Women’s Super League season, with one more opponent to be announced.

Whilst Stateside, we’ll also visit Portland, Oregon, which will be the venue for our pre-tournament training camp from 21-26 July.

Girls from the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL), the US’ competitive youth female football league, will join us in Portland and will have the opportunity to train alongside the Blues’ squad.

“Everyone at Manchester City is looking forward to this summer’s pre-season tour to the US. Competing in an elite tournament is the best preparation for what will be another action-packed season for us,” said Head of Women’s Football, Gavin Makel.

“We are delighted that the tour will also allow us the opportunity to meet and connect with our growing fan base in the US, whose support is important to us all.”

City will face one of the three potential opponents in the International Champions Cup semi-final on Friday 27 July, with the showpiece game two days later.

There’ll also be an opportunity for our US supporters to engage with the Club at fan and community events, which will be announced in the coming weeks and captain, Steph Houghton, is looking forward to the experience.

“I can’t wait to visit the US with Manchester City," she added.

"I’ve previously competed in America at the She Believes Cup and am always humbled by the incredible support of the fans out there.

"To have the chance to visit the US with Man City and meet all of our fans is something I know the whole team is looking forward to.”
